This Ad...

...actually made me think twice about who I'm going to support at the upcoming presidential election... ;) I just loved, LOVED the tune! :D

  3. Sabby - hope you're going to vote? ;)

K - haha, why do I have the suspicion that the invalid votes in the Western province might go up by one after your vote is counted? ;) lol

  4. Nice indeed, but I'm hoping that people will see beyond that!

  7. Yeap, I shall and I am going to vote for the guy who's gonna win!

(The fact that he shall just because I voted is irrelevant :P)

  8. Nice! How come I never saw this on TV. You are right, the tune is lovely. I don't know whether to be glad or sad that I can't vote this time.

  9. Sabby - glad you're using your vote, for whoever it is! :D

Sue - They show it on Swarnawahini like every 10 minutes or so... much better than the crappy mud slinging ads that were aired before... :D

Hey you can't vote as well? Join the club! :D Lemmi guess, they said your name was in the 2009 register but because it wasn't in the 2008 one you don't get a vote? (that's what they told me) lol :D

  10. Honestly, the green fields and the elephant made me think it's a UNP advertisement with subliminal imagery.

I'm going to vote against Sarath Fonseka. But my question is this. What does this ad, or any other ad I've seen, have to do with the candidate's policies or what he's going to do.

Have we become such a bankrupt nation that we vote for politicians with the most creative television advertisement or poster? Have we become Tamil Nadu?

I'm voting for substance, not for these cheap gimmicks.

  11. Bardo - It does, I really thought so too. I swear I saw a different version of this where a little kid is hanging by the tusker's trunk! :O

Well, I'm sure most Sri Lankan voters vote on substance and policies and promises. I was merely trying to point out that this was a beautifully composed ad, both visually and aurally... :)

  12. Yep, the music, the words, the voices and even the visuals of those kids and backdrops are all truly beautiful. I think it's too good for a political ad! lol

Anyway politics is the most disgusting topic for me, but now it's even worse esp. after they started that 'kiyana katha' feature.. and those mud slinging commercials.. hehe..

Anyway I'm keeping my fingers crossed.. hoping that whoever gets elected will only (sincerely) do good for the country and the people and will not by any means try to destroy the peace we gained after all those sacrifices. ^__^

  13. Nice ad. But, it looks like the ad agencies are milking the situation. Now that the multinational FMCG's are reduced to dubbing international ads, this period must be keeping the film industry going strong. In the name of elections, everyone is making money, by hook or crook...

Sri Lanka: a land like no other. ;)

  14. Harumi - lol, agreed! :D

haha, yeah, it's impossible to escape all the bull they say at rallies these days... :/

And yeah, me too... A good leader for this country is long overdue! :( And hoping for a peaceful election day without any bloodshed (like 2002) :|

Serendib - yep! The election has revitalized a lot of industries, including the digital-printing and polythene ones! :D too bad it's all happening with our tax rupees! ;) lol

  15. Sigh. Politism these days. *gag*

    Loved the ad. :)
