The famous communications towers atop Hanthana.
Two Eagles/Hawks in flight. Sorry about the quality since I had to crop the image.
I saw this dragonfly and was reminded of the LBO ad...
"Hmmm... Is this a Pink Skimmer?" I thought! :)
The reason we went there: The gingerbread guest
houses my uncles were building.
The view from the restaurant.
Sorry about the wonky/tilted panorama. Got a
bit carried away taking the shots! :D
the gingerbread houses are NAICE. loving the pics Chav. Awesome
ReplyDeletei agree. i want gingerbread house. i wish i was in hanthana right now..
ReplyDeleteGG and Yaka - Thanks guys! Yeah, I loved the gingerbread houses too! And Hanthana is just awesome, I couldn't believe that such a cool climate existed just a dozen or so kilometres from Kandy! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments! :)
Great view..how much is one day accommodation in one of those guest houses? We have a wedding in late this year in Kandy. So the whole extended family is looking for place to stay for 2 full days.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures machan. Love the one with the eagles. So we should take a trip to see th e gingee soon :D Excellent stuff, as usual :)
ReplyDeleteCheers!
beautiful pics!
ReplyDeleteKirigalpoththa - Yeah, such a wonderful place, you'll surely enjoy the surroundings! (The land is just downhill from a forest reserve.) Well, they're still building the place, so I'm not sure whether they've decided on the pricing yet, but I'll let you know ASAP! :D
ReplyDeleteMeshak - Hehe, we should! And Thank you! :D
Lady Divine - Thank you! :D
Thanks for the comments, guys! :)
Gorgeous colours on that dragonfly... pity you couldn't get a close-up.
ReplyDeleteThose gingerbread houses look lovely... I'm always on the look out for interesting places to stay in the hills. Please forward on the contact information when your uncle gets it up and running.
Wow.. great capture of Hanthana and a nice close up too. And that dragonfly looks familiar, we get the red ones here too, a firy red one though. Such beautiful panorama and those gingerbread buildings look like they're picked right off a fairytale storybook. What a place to stay.
ReplyDeleteLet us know when they launch, would love to drop by. ^__^
Sean - I tried to mate, but he flew away as soon as I snapped this one! A very watchful dragonfly, he was! :D
ReplyDeleteOooh, yeah I sure will! :D
Harumi - Thanks Harumi! :D This is the first time I've seen a dragonfly who looks like that, so I'm assuming he's from around Kandy! :D
Yeah, I'll post details as soon as they start up! :D
Thanks for the comments, guys! :)
Gorgeous view, Chavie! And from rockets to birds and dragonflies. All of 'em have wings?
ReplyDeleteWill they be ready by 2011? Isn't tht 'visit sri lanka' year? :P
hehe, yeah the view's amazing! haha I guess I like flying-things! :D ;)
ReplyDeleteThey probably will be, but this year is 'Visit Sri Lanka' year!!! lol :D
Thanks for the comment Losh! :)
Hi Chavie,
ReplyDeleteThat big eagle on the left looks very much like a Black Eagle, and yes, the dragonfly is almost certainly a Pink Skimmer Orthetrum pruinosum neglectum(Rambur, 1842) - a rather common species occuring even close to some of the insalubrious canals in CMB!
Lovely capture of the gingerbread guest
houses.
Amila - Thanks for the identification! I guess TV ads aren't bad all the time, eh? :D
ReplyDeleteThank you! :D
Chavie, couldn't find your email address. You had commented on my latest post, I was certain I published it but somehow I got a rejected message, sorry about that. If time allows re-comment or just leave it. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteAuf - No problems mate! :D
ReplyDeleteNice pics and nice gingerbread houses too!
ReplyDeleteSerendib - Hey man, long time no hear! :D And Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, been busy. ;)
