Paparé Boy's post kinda spawned this...
Ian Wright has got to be my most favourite TV travel guy ever. The bugger's seriously insane, but in a good way. I grew up watching him wandering everywhere from the vast deserts of Northern Africa, to the freezing Tundra of Sibera. Lonely Planet (later called Globe Trekker) has a seriously special place in my childhood memories... :)
And talking of this show, who could ever forget the awesome theme music eh? :D
Back to being awake at 3 AM then... sigh! :(
why art thou awake at 3am?
ReplyDeleteInsomnia or studying? :)
sorry i've never been much of a fan of documentaries till quite recently (when i discovered HD, it's really cool!) so this music has no real significance for me.
ReplyDeleteBut, I will pay more attention to them from now on. Thanks for sharing! :D
3AM?????????????/ The hell. :O
ReplyDeleteLove LOVE zee music. :)
Wow, another Ian Wright fan :D
ReplyDeleteYeah Lonely Planet was one of my faves too...
Lovely, I would soooo like a job like that!
ReplyDeleteLady D - It was insomnia man... I've been awake since 1 AM today, for 19 hours straight now! What's more I had to sit through the most boring Maths and English lectures ever! :/
ReplyDeleteB.I. - They used to show this programme when Discovery Channel was aired on Rupavahini! :D I think it still airs, try to catch it if you get Discovery over there! :D
GG - I know! :(
Az - Yep, the man was insane yet lovable, wasn't he? :D
Sigma - And I heard that he only got it 'coz one of his friends sent in a tape of him to the producers as a joke! He's got to be one helluva lucky guy! :D
Super!..Like Sigma said, that is my dream job!!
ReplyDeleteK - Yeah, that job would really suit you K! :D And all the places he gets to visit! :)
ReplyDeletei love ian! he's so funny and he make it fun to watch. :D i love Travel and Living man seriously i could survive on that channel alone :P :P
ReplyDeleteBlack - Yeah, he sure is! Can make the hard business that is travelling to all these places and makes it fun and easy to relate to! :D
ReplyDeleteHey Chavie...Congrats!!!! You've just won an award! Go check out RD's blog!
ReplyDeleteChavie, The only shows I watched on discovery were Medical Detectives and that other crime solving one on Rupavahini those days. Sorry! :(
ReplyDeleteIf I see it on Discovery here, shall let you know!!! :)
Sue - Heyyy, I just did!!! Thank you for the heads up! :D
ReplyDeleteB.I. - Ah yeah! Those were really cool too! :D Those days were really fun, I hope that Rupavahini shows something useful like that again, instead of showing propaganda 24/7... ;)
I think the channel name has changed to 'Discovery Travel and Living', like Blacky mentioned. I think they split it into 2 or 3, the other one I can think of is 'Animal Planet'... :D
I also liked Michael Palin on BBC; very watchable guy, wonderful vocabulary.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, congrats on your award from London. Well done. ;)
Serendib - I've heard about him, but haven't seen. Should check out if I could download some of his documentaries... :D
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you very much! ;) :D
